Does it come with a free 1 year update? Does that mean that I just need to updated next year?

The free 1-year update means that you can update for free as long as Autel has a prompt to update the software within 1 year from the time you register this product. After the expiration, you can still keep the current version and continue to use it, or you can pay to update the software.
